The Rocker

Synopsis – An aging rock drummer is hired by his nephew to play drums in a high school band, which is catapulted onto the music scene. Hilarity ensues.

Reflix – Going into this film I thought – oh no, a film where Dwight tries to rock-out. As much as I love The Office and even though Rainn Wilson was hilarious on his episode of SNL (especially his SNL Digital Short), I was fearing the worst, especially after a 39% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. However, I was pleasantly surprised by this film. I think the pitch for this film was “That Thing You Do! with Dwight” because that’s what it feels like. The story is almost exactly the same – a new drummer comes in to an established band and ends up leading them on a summer tour. Same plot, except here
